Founder, Vale Construction
Alfredo Esquivel founded Vale Construction in Alexandria, Virginia in 2002. Twenty-four years later, he still runs the company hands-on — meeting homeowners on first walkthroughs, sitting in on design reviews, and walking active job sites in person. Vale isn't a brokerage that hands homes off to subcontractors and disappears. It's a design-build shop where the founder is on the job.
The work, and why this way
Alfredo built Vale around a specific belief: the people designing your renovation should be the same people building it. In Northern Virginia — where most remodels involve permit-heavy older homes, complex layouts, and homeowners with high standards — splitting design from execution is what causes the rework, the budget overruns, and the timeline slips that give this industry its bad reputation.
Vale operates as a true design-build firm. The plans you sign off on are drawn by people who know what's behind the walls and what the carpenters will actually face. The pricing is honest because the same team owns the budget and the build. And when something unexpected shows up — and in a 1940s Alexandria foundation, something always does — the answer doesn't require a three-way negotiation between architect, general contractor, and owner.

Why Alexandria
Alfredo has been remodeling Alexandria homes for over two decades. Vale has worked on hundreds of projects across Northern Virginia, but Alexandria is where the company started, where most of the crew lives, and where Alfredo personally has the deepest understanding of the building stock. That isn't marketing. The brick rowhouses near King Street, the mid-century capes off Quaker Lane, the 1990s townhomes in Cameron Station — each has its own quirks, and you only learn them by working on a few hundred of them.
That local depth is also what makes Vale different from out-of-area contractors. Alfredo can tell you, before the first walk-through, whether your 1955 Beverly Hills cape is likely to have asbestos floor tile, knob-and-tube wiring in one specific wall cavity, or a foundation drainage issue that's going to surface during basement work. Out-of-area contractors learn those things during the project. By then it's a change order.
